Most citizens in Texas are horrified that Rick Perry is going to run for president Most citizens in Texas will testify that he  is sneaky,  dishonest, a liar, a thief and is totally self-serving. Most citizens in Texas will verify that his "prayer meeting" was a farce.  This man has NEVER displayed any religious meetings before in his life as governor.  This is a scam.  Most citizens in Texas will verify that Rick Perry has destroyed TEXAS.  His claims for people pouring in for jobs are ILLEGAL ALIENS> There are 2 million illegal aliens in TEXAS and more than 70% of them are on welfare. Rick Perry has taken Texas to a state of poverty and NO EDUCATION and our living status is likened to that of Mississippi. Rick Perry boasts that he has funds abundant to cover any and all possible emergencies that could ever happen in TEXAS.  This is Not true   Rick Perry is going to do anything he possibly can to NOT debate any other presidential candidate, because he is NOt qualified.   Google:  Texas' Elderly and poor left to suffer while state steals donations meant for utility assistance. Google:  Rick Perry got the Texas Supreme  Court to mandate that his travels and expense be secret and private from the citizens of Texas Google:  Rick Perry takes $10,000 PER MONTH for a rent house from taxpayers Google:  Rick Perry REFUSED to debate his opponent in the last election for governor. Google:  Rick Perry took about $90,000 from a farmer's fund to let his property go idle - - just last week he said this practice should be stopped and is NOT good for taxpayers (but HE took the money) Google:  Rick Perry gave handling of Texas toll roads to foreigners to manage Goog;e:  Rick Perry is BOUGHT by Perry Homes to ensure their company in Texas. Google:  Rick Perry touts that he creates jobs and population growth  in TEXAS - HE DOES - illegal aliens get here as fast as they can.    Sign on to The Houston Chronicle and have someone read this newspaper every day.  The disgust for Rick Perry from the average citizen will be phenominal.  Rick Perry is NOT respected in Texas.   I hope, with all sincerity, that someone will bring these facts to light.  America does NOT need Rick Perry and Texas does not either.

He can't be the anti Christ, Obama is the anti christ. He must be the anti anti Christ. Does that make him Christ? Was he praying to himself? I am confused.

Every time I see him I am reminded of the slick slap you on the back idiot salesman you see at the car dealership. The kind you try to avoid like the plague.

Hey Therese: Please explain your love for Rick Perry. Explain on what basis he has the qualifications to be the next President. Explain his political positions and why those positions are good for the general public.

Oh no--we don't want to inflict him on the whole country. And if we have to keep him to prevent that, I believe we would, but it would be with clenched teeth.

And Texas has no term limits. God help us.

I just can't put my finger on it , but all of these Tea Party wannabe's have a very similar look of being lost , sort of like when you're waiting for a train but aren't sure if you're waiting for the right one.

Perry is a hack like the rest too full of himself to realize of the rest; but he appeals to both Tea Party Members and the Religious Right which makes him a bonafide contender. He is the best they have to offer to that GrOuP. He should be taken very seriously and a reminder to everyone that it is imperative that we all get out and vote or as Texas goes so will the rest of us...........

Well? Think of it this way!

GWB became POTUS with that Texas mind set.

In the eight years of his Texas leadership. His Admin drove this nations credit card right to the cliff on the backs of the American Middle classed. The GWB Admin was dumb as a rock for the welfare of the nation and her people, out side of the top 2% .

Well Rick Perry is NOT dumb as a rock, he’s smart

His smart new Texas style thinking will not be rock like! No ,it will be a knife in the backs into the American Middle Class and then finish the GWB – GOP/TP job!

Good-bye American Middle class, the profits, jobs and investments are in China.

    Two questions:

    1. If Texans hate Perry so much why did Texas vote for him?

    2. If GWB did it and he was probably even more wack and less qualified, why is it impossible for Perry to do it?

Most Texans did not--he won only by 36% in a 3-way split. And your second point is plausible, unfortunately. [God forbid.]

You would think. But the Repubs have done some serious two-steppin' to get an advantage, including some redistricting--in their favor, of course. We haven't had a Democrat for governor since Ann Richards in the 90s, which surprised the heck outta me, since she was both Dem and a woman. ::sigh:: We were making progress, then things started seriously regressing and unraveling. It's scary and makes me sad. And it's earned us the reputation for close-mindedness. But Texas is actually more diverse and complex than we appear.

Which means, maybe there's a chance to straighten this mess out.

BTW, the wiki on Texas politics is very interesting, and more clearly explains the winding road it's taken: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Texas.

kdreeves - I'm sympathetic about your statement on Texas politics. I'm in California and people in the other 49 have weird ideas about us and how "out of control" we are. In reality, we're doing a lot better. The Feds aren't doing remotely as well as us at solving real problems and getting taxes vs spending under control.

Redistricting - I remember someone that wrote some redistricting software. I asked what percent of governmental entities would use that and after laughing he said all of them. In his memory the state of Hawaii was the only government he ever encountered that wanted software to create districts based on geographic/ethnic/city factors. Gerrymandering rules.

I just checked back to see my original reply to you, markpup, did not get posted. Oh well!

I must confess that I have had some "weird ideas" about California, and I stand corrected. And upon reflection, I realize that you guys can be very forward-thinking and innovative.

As for the redistricting software--I don't know why I'm surprised!

Ok im back and the wacky ducky politicians who mixed religion with politic aint nothing new, you think Rick and Bachmann are going to fix this economy? No i don't think so.

The only way to do is to trick more voters in believing we should go back to where we were when a Repub ran the White House. How did we get here? Ill say b/cause of the war in the Middle East, yet they are tricking you in believing they should take it out of your Social Security, Medicare Benefits, etc.

The trick of the game that most politicians do not want you to know is based on alot of Stock Market manipulations and greed. It's like, give me more of your money and we will fix the economy as we seen over and over again.

Here's another corporate view, which is why it makes it so tough to change Washingston. The Change that we believed in and wanted well some does not be part of that endeavor due to the fact that it involves a sacrafic on their part, share that wealth giving up a little more to help those who are struggling.

So to, wear my shoe and I will help you get there so called corporate tricks of the game. There is a price to pay! I have to ask, what did the Mortgage Meltdown teach you back then? Well it is not a pretty picture, the economy only works when you pay more into the system in my view.

So you think Ms Bachmann or Rick Perry is going to change Washington? Nah they are not, if they are then we would be arguing about the same problems again and again.

Well you dont want to hear the truth, you can run but you cant hide from politics my friend, its everywhere. Where do you think these politics are getting their views from? It's from the same coporate greed that got us in this mess in the first place. Washingston doesnt want to change, so shush up!

Wow, you're right, Tamara, it did sort of fizzle out didn't it? Funny, since Perry's such a patriot, [ahem] you'd think he'd be pushin' real hard for that case to be solved, and the perps brought to justice. [Cover-up of some misadventure on the part of someone?]

Of course, maybe someone was just as disgusted with this guy as we are, and a bit off-balance. But that brings me back to the previous speculation, because if it was caused by someone else, why would Perry not push to have this solved?

I guess you can mess with Texas. At least with Perry as governor. [Just don't mess with his agenda...]
